I love my job. I really, really do. Kindergarten is such an amazing time in a child's life. They are excited to learn, are full of questions and curiosity, are so eager to please you, and are just wide-eyed little sponges. Not this kind, though.

Creepy! No, that's not my photo for the day!
Every morning during our 90 minute literacy block the kids go to various literacy centers while I do my reading groups (pulling groups of about 4 or 5 kids to a table with me and teaching them and having them practice various reading skills on their level). One of the literacy centers available for them to choose is the Writing Board. It is a much coveted center because of the dry erase markers. Those are exciting when you are 5. What am I saying, I enjoy using a good dry erase marker too!
Anyways, this morning 2 of my students were at the center and they decided to play Hangman using our Star Words (words that are difficult to sound out phonetically, so we memorize them in order to recognize them quickly when reading). Every afternoon but Wednesday I have a resource teacher come into my room for 30 minutes to work with my kids while I do various interventions on my students who are struggling. I had her play the game with them yesterday for the first time. I was so proud to see these 2 kiddos take it and run with it this morning! (If you click on the picture, you get a clearer view.)

On second thought, it may not have been the best idea to suggest to Kindergartners the concept of hanging oneself.
